Profile, Qualifications

While medical translation methods are increasingly advanced in their technical complexity, medical translation quality is predominantly affected by the experience and capabilities of the core human medical translators/reviewers. MediqTrans’ medical translation experts are carefully recruited, and have their performance regularly audited, to endure that they are suitably qualified for the medical translation tasks assigned to them.

Managing medical translators’ performance is a significant effort, and a mandatory process to ensure that a high standard of medical translations is maintained. The following lists our selection criteria, as well as ongoing performance expected from our translators:

  • Native speakers of the target language, with a strong command of the source language
  • A bachelors degree, more than 4 years experience performing medical translation, with named life science organizations translated for, or
  • A diploma, more than 7 years experience performing medical translation, with named life science organizations translated for
  • Experience using language CAT tools – medical translation terminology management and translation memory platforms
  • For every 30,000 words of medical translation per translator, 1,500 words will be selected for quality audit purposes, and measured into their performance scorecard
  • MediqTrans project managers select medical translators for ongoing projects based on their performance scorecard
